who We Are

Ko Peretania te whakapapa mai,

engari, i whanau mai au i India,

ā, i tupu ake au i Thailand.

E noho ana ki Tauwhare inaiane, ki te rohe ō Ngāti Hauā nē.

Nō tangata tiriti ahau,

ko David Pattemore toku ingoa.

Tēnā koutou, tēnā koutou, tēnā koutou katoa.

My ancestors are from Great Britain, but I was born in India and grew up in Thailand. I am now settled in Aotearoa, New Zealand, and my home is in a small community in Waikato called Tauwhare. My name is David Pattemore.

Welcome, welcome to all.

I am a research scientist with training in ecology, and with a particular interest in developing technological solutions to tricky problems. I'm currently employed as a senior scientist at a Crown Research Institute and a senior lecturer at a University.

My collaboration with Sigma Eight started in 2013, with a project to develop a system to track bumblebees. It is exciting to now have the opportunity to work together on this new business venture of bringing their technology to the region and further developing automated tracking systems.

I started Bushcast Limited in 2024 in order to introduce Sigma Eight's radio telemetry equipment to the region, and to work on developing and delivering new automated monitoring solutions based on my experience building automated monitoring systems for tracking bumble bees and other species.

What we do

Bushcast Limited is focused on research and developement and deployment of automated radio telemetry and tracking solutions for wildlife management, agriculture, fisheries, ecological consultancies and researchers.

Bushcast Limited is also the sales agent for Sigma Eight Inc radio telemetry equipment in Oceania and South East Asia, as well as providing consultancy and system design for projects in New Zealand and abroad, with a particular specialty in automated tracking solutions.

We have seen projects and organisations using legacy technologies that aren’t quite fit for purpose any more, but we know it can be hard to feel confident in new technology when the survival of species or the robustness of datasets are at stake.

Talk to us to find out what we can offer you.
